The Hot Air Balloon

Although trains were the main source of transportation at the turn of the 20th century hot air balloons are a better alterenative that will give birth to the aerospace engineering field.

The hot air balloon was instrumental in helping to create the aerospace industry without which today we would not have planes for travel or transportation of goods.  The specific iteration of the hot air balloon that our group chose is the first to use a portable gas generator to achieve flight.  This iteration was patented in 1885.  While the use of a hot air balloon may be small it is not a large leap in logic to believe that the idea was meant to evolve into something zeppelin like which would have significant practical application.  Hot air balloons also has meteorlogical and military applications
